Throughout the novel Kite Runner, main character Amir refers to the various political events that occur during his childhood. These events have significant influences in his life. This research activity will introduce you to some of the history of Afghanistan to help you better understand why there has been so much turmoil and instability in the past thirty years. You will look at the short term and long term effects of the events. The events are:
